Who we are

Unthinkit is operated by Darwinian Angel Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales. We are the data controller for the personal data described below.

Short version

Unthinkit does not require an account. The text you paste or import, your checkpoint decisions, your judgement notes and your Thinking Receipt are processed locally. By default they are not retained after the active review. If you explicitly choose Save review on this device, Unthinkit stores that review only in this browser on this device so you can resume it later. The deterministic review sends nothing to an AI service. The disabled-by-default Look Deeper with AI beta sends text only after a separate disclosure, exact typed confirmation and button press. You can instead choose Stay Private.

Optional Look Deeper with AI

If this experimental feature is enabled and you choose it, the original prompt and complete answer are sent through Lovable AI Gateway to OpenAI. The AI receives neither the deterministic checkpoints nor your notes, decisions or Thinking Receipt. A fresh confirmation is required for every submission, and nothing is transmitted before it.

The application does not save submitted source text for research, RAG or future training. Lovable AI App Context must be disabled before activation. Lovable documents that enabling it can retain full request and response context for 90 days; when it is disabled, request-summary metadata may still be retained, including a request-derived title, time, model, token use, credits and duration. OpenAI's applicable retention, training, international-transfer and regional-processing arrangements have not yet been independently verified for this managed route. Do not use it for sensitive or confidential material until those arrangements are acceptable to you.

Optional checkpoint ratings stay local unless you separately consent to submit them. Submitted ratings exclude the source text, evidence quotations, notes and receipt.

Free public UNTHINK scan

• No account is required to use the free scan.
• The supplied text is processed locally for the deterministic scan.
• Pressing UNTHINK does not send that content to a large language model.
• Pressing UNTHINK does not itself store that content in localStorage, sessionStorage, IndexedDB, Supabase or receipt storage. A local IndexedDB record is created only if you explicitly choose to save the review on this device.
• The visible annotations are derived from exact evidence spans in the text you supplied.

Local document import

If you choose a supported PDF, DOCX, TXT or Markdown file, the file is read in your browser and its extracted text is placed into the UNTHINK text box for you to inspect or edit before analysis. The document bytes are not uploaded to Unthinkit as part of this import process.

DOCX extraction is performed locally in the browser. PDF text extraction uses the open-source PDF.js library in the browser. Scanned or image-only PDFs are not currently processed because Unthinkit does not run OCR on imported documents.

Optional local save and resume

For longer reviews, you can explicitly choose Save review on this device. When you do, Unthinkit stores the source text, deterministic checkpoint result, your review choices, selected questions, judgement notes and current review position in IndexedDB in this browser on this device.

The saved review is not uploaded to Unthinkit, is not attached to analytics, and is not synced to an account or another device. Once you opt in, that saved review is updated locally as you continue. You can delete it from the review interface at any time. Clearing browser/site data may also remove it.

Judgement notes, Thinking Receipt and PDF export

The questions you keep and your judgement notes are held only in the active local review state. The Thinking Receipt is assembled locally from the source text, the checkpoints you kept, the Unthinkit questions and any judgement notes you add.

If you export a Thinking Receipt as a PDF, the PDF is generated locally. If you then download, save or share that PDF, your browser, operating system and any destination app or service you choose may process the file. Unthinkit does not receive a copy merely because you export it.

Optional Continue with AI

If you choose Continue with AI, Unthinkit constructs a refinement prompt locally. That prompt can contain the complete source text, the marked passages, the questions Unthinkit revealed and your judgement notes.

Unthinkit does not transmit that prompt to an AI provider. You choose whether to copy and paste it into another service. If you do, that provider receives the material from you and its own privacy policy and terms apply. Review the prompt before sharing it, particularly if the source contains personal, confidential or sensitive information.

Privacy-focused analytics

On the public website, Unthinkit uses Umami Cloud to understand aggregate website and product usage — for example page visits and whether people run an analysis, keep a checkpoint, start a review, create a Thinking Receipt, export a PDF or copy the optional AI refinement prompt.

Our custom product events contain only the event name. They do not include the text you analyse, checkpoint evidence, Unthinkit questions, judgement notes, Thinking Receipt contents, refinement prompts, names or email addresses.

Umami does not use cookies in its tracking code. It records ordinary analytics information such as page, referrer, browser/device characteristics and approximate location. The visitor IP address may be used by the analytics service to derive location information but is not stored by Umami. We also exclude URL search parameters and hashes from analytics and configure the tracker to respect your browser's Do Not Track setting.

Analytics are used to understand and improve Unthinkit and to measure aggregate adoption of its features. We do not use this analytics data for advertising, cross-site tracking or profiling.

Technical and hosting data

Unthinkit is a hosted web application. Loading and operating the site can involve ordinary hosting and technical infrastructure requests, including logs such as IP address, user agent, timestamps and error information used to operate and secure the service.

Feedback and contact

The results page links to a missed-checkpoint feedback form. That form sends only the structured choices you select, an optional fictional example you write yourself, and whether you came from the website or the app. Your analysed text, evidence, notes and decisions are never attached. A separate contact form remains available for general, support and press enquiries, and you decide what you include in it.

Billing and payment records

Unthinkit is free to use. There is no account, subscription or payment in the current product. Historical payment records from retired features may still be held by our former payment provider where retention is required for tax, legal or accounting purposes.

Who processes data

Depending on what you choose to use, data may be processed by:

• Hosting and database providers — to load and secure the site and to receive structured feedback that you deliberately submit.
• Umami Cloud — to provide privacy-focused aggregate website and product analytics. Our custom events are name-only and never include your analysed text, checkpoint content, judgement notes, receipt contents or refinement prompt.
• Lovable AI Gateway and OpenAI — only if the optional AI beta is enabled and you complete its separate confirmation. They receive the original prompt and answer for that request.
• Other third-party AI services — only if you choose to copy or paste a locally prepared refinement prompt into one yourself.
• Former payment providers — only for historical records from retired features where retention is required for tax, legal or accounting purposes.
• Email providers — if you choose to contact us and email is used to receive or respond to your message.

How we use data

• To operate, debug, monitor and secure the service.
• To understand aggregate usage and improve the website and product workflow.
• To receive and review structured feedback you choose to submit.
• To respond to messages you choose to send us.
• To meet legal, tax, accounting and security obligations.

We do not sell your data. We do not use content from the free public UNTHINK scan to train foundation models.

Retention

By default, pasted or imported text, checkpoint decisions, judgement notes and generated Thinking Receipts are not retained after the active review. Optional AI submissions have the distinct gateway and provider retention arrangements described above. If you explicitly use the local save feature, that review remains in IndexedDB on your device until you delete it or browser/site data removes it. Structured feedback, contact messages, technical logs and historical payment records may be retained for as long as needed to provide the relevant function, secure the service, respond to requests or meet legal and accounting obligations.

Your rights

Under UK and EU data protection law you can request access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability of your personal data, and object to processing. Email us and we will respond within 30 days.

Cookies and local storage

Umami analytics does not use cookies. By default, the UNTHINK scan and review do not persist your source text, decisions or judgement notes. If you explicitly choose the local save feature, Unthinkit uses IndexedDB on this device for that saved review. If you opt out of analytics on this page, Unthinkit uses one localStorage preference on your device solely to remember that choice. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.

Children

Unthinkit is not intended for children under 16.
